The president of the Privatized State Businesses (Fonder) Fernando Rosa announced US$120 million are being invested by the government fund and private sector in the Larimar wind farm in Paraiso, Barahona. He said that by June 2016, prior to the end of the Medina administration, the project would be ready to enter into operation. He said this would be the second public-private investment in the southwest, the first being the Juancho wind farm in Pedernales, also with Ege-Haina. Rosa also said another Ege-Haina wind farm is contemplated for Jicome in Santiago.
Rosa said the state received RD$8.5 billion in yields from privatized state entities from 2005-2014 and the Fonder fund is at more than RD$15 billion.
