A feature in Diario Libre highlights a concern that each day there is more evidence of the government’s negligence that has allowed vendors take over city streets in Greater Santo Domingo. Diario Libre reports that the ambulatory vendors and fixed posts sell a wide range of products including fruit, personal hygiene articles, clothing, and even animals at street corners through the city. The newspaper mentioned specific cases at the intersections of Nicolas de Ovando and Maximo Gomez, Duarte and Paris in the National District, or the Hermanas Mirabal with Charles de Gaulle in Villa Mella, and 27 de Febrero with Isabel Aguiar in Santo Domingo West.
