President Danilo Medina’s youngest daughter, 22-year old Ana Paula Medina Montilla, graduated on Saturday, 4 July 2015, from the Unibe Medical School. Her parents attended the 39th graduation held at the Casa San Pablo. The President and First Lady Candida Montilla have two other daughters, Sibeli and Vanessa, who in previous years graduated in Economics and Law from the PUCMM in Santo Domingo.
During the 39th graduation ceremony at Unibe, 591 new professionals received degrees. Of these, 109 graduated in medicine. Seventy percent of medical degrees were earned by women.
In his keynote speech at the graduation, the rector urged that the Dominican health care system needs to focus more on preventing diseases so there may be less diseases to treat.
