President Danilo Medina has said that the only thing the government is hoping for is that the Organization of American States (OEA) mission that recently visited the country, accurately reports on the migratory situation. The President reiterated that the Dominican Republic had nothing to hide and that the country’s doors were open to anyone who wanted to come and observe the process.
Medina noted that the government was in the process of issuing documents to those who had registered under the National Foreigner Legalization Plan (PNRE) before any deportation process would begin. At the same time, the government vowed not to deport individuals who had registered under the PNRE but were not carrying proof of their registration.
