The secretary-general of the United Left Movement (MIU) and minister of regional Integration of the Dominican government, Miguel Mejia, met in Managua, Nicaragua with President Daniel Ortega to explain in detail the migratory regularization process being carried out in the Dominican Republic with the implementation of the National Foreigner Legalization Plan. Mejia traveled to Managua to attend the commemoration of the 36th anniversary of the triumph of the Sandinista Revolution in 1979. President Ortega said that he appreciated receiving first-hand information regarding the foreigner normalization plan.
As reported in El Caribe, also discussed were the experiences in Nicaragua regarding public safety, and the construction of the Inter-Ocean Canal in Nicaragua that is set to begin soon.
