Contemporary Dance opens at Bellas Artes

Enjoy performances of the best of contemporary dance in the Dominican Republic and guest performances of famous troupes from abroad soon in Santo Domingo.

The 11th Festival of Contemporany Dance (Edanco) opens at the Palacio de Bellas Artes on 15 September 2015 with performances of contemporary dance through 28 September.

The program for this year includes performances by dancers from Norway, Colombia, Mexico, Argentina, France, Puerto Rico and Switzerland. To back emerging talents, Edanco includes in its program the five top performers during the Festival of Youth Dance carried out every year during the Santo Domingo Book Fair.

The program is:

15-16 September 8:30pm: Panta Rei Dance Theatre (PRD) from Norway, known for its high paced and colorful dance theatre performances.

17 September 8:30pm: Grupo Juvenil Escuela Nacional De Danza Dominican Republic.

18-19 September 8:30pm: Noche De Colombia, Kalus Danza, Pilar Hernandez and Folkloric Ballet Antioquia, Medellin. 20 September 6:30pm and 8:30pm: New Generation Dominican Night. The best contemporary dancers and choreographers of the Dominican Republic.

21-22 September 8:30pm: LX3 (Mexico), Desde Azul (Argentina)

23 September 8:30pm: Collectif Art mouv/Zone Libre (France)

24 September 6:30pm and 8:30pm: Danza Joven, winners of the first place of the Festival Nacional de Danza Joven and emerging national talents.

25-26 September 8:30pm: Puerto Rican Night. Andanza Contemporary Dance Company, Ballet Concierto de Puerto Rico and Coda 21
