PAWA starts new flights to Caribbean destinations

This coming August, Pawa starts its first flights to Aruba, Curacao and St. Maarten. The airline is marketing to the hundreds of thousands of Dominicans that live in those islands. The airline has programmed 24 flights a week starting 14 August 2015.

The airline says next it plans to connect the Dominican Republic to San Juan, Puerto Rico; Havana, Miami and New York in six months time.

Upon making the announcement of the start of flights, Pawa corporate affairs director Alexander Barrios said the plan is to turn the Dominican Republic into the Caribbean hub par excellence. He said the airline also has plans to fly to Kingston, Nassau, Port of Spain, Port-au-Prince and other cities that would be better served with direct flights from Santo Domingo. He said their plan is to turn the Las Americas International Airport into a hub for Caribbean passengers.

In addition to serving passenger needs, the airline is also focusing on cargo needs of Dominican exporters. The airline will focus on regional routes that are not fully served by competitors.
