Electric problems caused the more than four hour interruption of service on Monday, 10 August 2015 on the second line of the Santo Domingo Metro that runs from northern Santo Domingo to the east. This year, the second line has suffered several interruptions ranging from 10 minutes to the longest on Monday. The problem occurred at 2pm, paralyzing service from Juan Ulises Garcia Saleta station at the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center to the Eduardo Brito station near the Francisco del Rosario Sanchez bridge. Travelers were forced to take other modes of transport.
The Santo Domingo Metro is in its sixth year of service. Around 230,000 paid rides are taken every day.
