Mock plane crash successful at Las Americas

Aerodom, the company that operates Las Americas International Airport, carried out a an airplane accident drill to allow dozens of first responders to put procedures to the test on Tuesday, 11 August 2015. The exercise tested the procedures in the emergency plan and measured the response capability in the case of a real emergency.

The drill was carried out with a plane holding 46 passengers and four crew that had crashed in the grassy area. It assumed there were 12 dead, 11 seriously injured, eight with minor injuries and 19 uninjured.

The drill took around two hours. Aerodom executives, agents from the Specialized Corps of Airport Security and Civil Aviation (CESAC), fire fighters, Civil Defense and the Red Cross participated.
