According to a report on the first semester of the year issued by the Social Security Treasury (TSS) around 81% of workers registered in the TSS, earn less than RD$25,000 a month and 45.4% earn less than RD$10,000 a month. The report also showed that 94.8% of the employees work in small or medium-sized businesses with less than 50 employees.
Only 19% of those with salaries earn more than RD$25,000 month.
Men earn on average RD$17,621 and women, although there are less in the scheme at 44.4% they actually have a higher average monthly salary at RD$18,125.
TSS received RD$37.82 billion from business that is an increase over the same period in 2014 of 11.57%.
