A citizen called 911 Emergency Line when observing a small craft drifting at sea on Saturday, 15 August 2015. 911 operators notified the Navy that rescued the two fishermen in their small boat. The fishermen’s boat began drifting out to sea after their small motor outboard motor failed off the Malecon in Santo Domingo. A health unit was also sent. The fishermen had no way to notify land of their problem.
