On Monday, 17 August 2015, migration authorities reported the detention of 12 illegal foreigners in Santiago who had not registered under the National Foreigner Legalization Plan (PNRE).
According to migration inspectors, 12 Haitians had their biometric data taken and would be sent home to their country. Some of the operations were watched over by a Human Rights Commission from Haiti.
