Eminent Dominican fashion designer Jenny Polanco presents “Design to Express Identity” at Altos de Chavon. The exhibition is open through 21 September 2015. The exhibition, which is curated by Sara Herman with photography by Tiziano de Stefano, tells the fashion designer’s story and showcases the many artistic aspects of her work throughout her career. In March, Polanco was invited to present a segment of her work at the Unesco headquarters in Paris to commemorate International Women’s Day 2015. At the opening of the exhibition in Paris, the Dominican ambassador to Unesco, Laura Faxas stated that Jenny Polanco was a pioneer in our country. Faxas said that Jenny Polanco’s creations have their roots in Dominican heritage and are inspired by traditional handicrafts, gastronomy, climate, diverse ethnic representations, flora and fauna, and the rhythms and tastes of the Dominican Republic to create a product that combines the Caribbean identity and sensitivity with a high sense of quality and reflecting a national identity.
