The Economist Intelligence Unit, commissioned by the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (Funglode), has produced a report “The Future of the Electricity Sector in the Dominican Republic” to be used as background for the discussions leading up to the national electricity pact. The report was delivered to Monsignor Agripino Nunez Collado and Iraima Capriles, president and executive director of the Economic and Social Council, which is leading the discussions, and to Electricity Pact technical commission member Magdalena Lizardo. The EIU spent 14 months on preparing the report, working with local experts Celso Marranzini, Francisco Mendez, Jorge Mercado and Rafael Velazco. It also received input from international experts, including IDB specialist John Heath and EIU specialists Peter Kiernan, Susana Martinez, Jimena Serrano, Robert Smith and Anna Szterenfeld.
The report was presented by Funglode executive director Marco Herrera, and Muriel Alfonseca, Funglode advisor and project manager for the Economist Intelligence Unit.
