Onamet says low-pressure system brings rain

The National Meteorological Office (Onamet) reports that the influence of a tropical wave and a low-pressure system will increase humidity and cause scattered showers throughout most of the country. Onamet is forecasting rainfall for the provinces of La Altagracia (Higuey), El Seibo, Hato Mayor, La Romana, San Pedro de Macoris, San Cristobal, Peravia (Bani), Dajabon, Santiago Rodriguez, Valverde (Cotui), Elias Pina, Santiago, San Juan de la Maguana, Hermanas Mirabal (Salcedo), Sanchez Ramirez (Cotui), Monsenor Nouel (Bonao), Monte Plata, Maria Trinidad Sanchez (Nagua), Samana, and La Vega.

For today, Thursday 3 September 2015, the low-pressure area as well as the tropical wave will recede from the national territory with a significant reduction in rainfall during the afternoon and evening. Rains are expected in the central mountains, the border region and the northeast. Onamet informs that Tropical Storm Fred has now been downgraded to a disturbance and is far from the Dominican Republic.
