Diario Libre reports that the ruling PLD party has granted tax exemptions to 375 provincial and municipal party members in the eastern region for the purchase of luxury vehicles worth around RD$700,000 each. The exemptions were raffled.
As reported in Diario Libre, PLD Municipal Committee president Guadalupe Jaquez, said that the Hato Mayor province had benefitted with 75 exemptions for leading members in Hato Mayor, El Valle and Sabana de la Mar who could afford to pay for the vehicles in order to enjoy the import duty exemptions. She said that the government exonerated the import duty so that the PLD members could receive the vehicles at a lower cost.
