World-class dancers will grace the stage at the Carlos Piantini Hall of the National Theater in Santo Domingo on 16-17 September 2015. Dancers from France, Belgium, Argentina, Chile, the United States, Cuba and Dominican Republic will be appearing in a benefit for the Fundacion Nido para Angeles that helps children with cerebral palsy.
This year’s shows will be directed by ballet impresario Paul Seaquist who is bringing first dancer Robert Tewsley who has danced with the London Royal Ballet, the Stuttgart Ballet and the New York Ballet. He will perform “The Firebird”, choreographed by Marco Goeckie. Thomas Gallus, first dancer of the Paris Opera will also be performing.
The lineup also includes Nicolai Gorodiski and Ana Sophia Scheller of the New York City Ballet, who will dance “Le Corsaire” and “Temporary Conflict”, Sebastian Vinet, of the Santiago de Chile Ballet and Sofia Menteguiaga of the Royal Flanders Ballet of Belgium who will dance “Satanella” (Love and Hell) and the pas-de-deux from “Carmen”. Lisbeth Saad of the Contemporary Dance Company of Cuba, winner of the Vladimir Malakhov 2014 Grand Prix will dance “Non,” the winning work of the Grand Prix.
The 2015 program also features the first dancers of the Colon Theater of Argentina, Nadia Muzyca and Federico Fernandez, who will dance “Esmeralda” and “Eclypse”. ?Representing the Dominican Republic at the event, the National Dominican Ballet directed by Mercedes Morales will perform “Preciso momento” by choreographer Marcos Rodriguez, danced by himself and Jennifer Ulloa.
