Haiti bans products moving across the border

The Haitian Ministry of Economy and Finance has issued a statement listing 23 Dominican products that are prohibited from entering Haiti across the border, and can only arrive by sea or air via Port-au-Prince or Cap-Haitien.

Wilson Laleau, who signed the document, said that the list includes grey cement, drinking water, powdered detergent, paint, butter, lard, ground corn, snacks, cookies, and PVC tubing.

The ban comes into effect today, Wednesday 16 September 2015.
