Trucks with up to five axles, which used to pay RD$100 pesos in tolls, will now have to pay RD$200 and trucks with seven or more axles will have to pay RD$300, which is a RD$200 increase. The measure has reportedly been taken as these trucks have a greater effect on the roads given their weight and their loads.
Truck drivers reacted quickly and are arranging meetings to discuss the increases.
Other vehicles have not had their tolls increased.
