Spain will help migration relations between DR and Haiti

The Spanish Secretary of State for International Cooperation and for Ibero-America, Jesus Gracia, is scheduled to visit the Dominican Republic later this year to help with the management of the immigration relations with Haiti.

According to Listin Diario, sources close to the Spanish Embassy say that the Spanish government support for the Dominican Republic will go beyond helping with the National Foreigner Legalization Plan (PNRE).

The support will also include the integration of immigrant Haitian workers in the country together with many other aspects. Minister Gracia’s visit has been penciled in for in November. Yesterday, Wednesday 16 September 2015, the Spanish ambassador to the Dominican Republic Jaime Lacadena, visited Senate President Cristina Lizardo. During the meeting the ambassador expressed Spanish support for the National Foreigners Legalization. Lizardo, in turn, thanked the ambassador for his country’s support.
