In what will come as welcome news for many, the National Meteorological Office (Onamet) says that a tropical wave located over the Mona Passage and a high level trough over Cuba was increasing cloud cover and will cause moderate to severe rainstorms in much of the area. The rain is expected to move westwards, mainly affecting the provinces of La Altagracia (Higuey), La Romana, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, San Pedro de Macoris, Monte Plata, San Cristobal, Peravia (Bani), San Jose de Ocoa, Azua, San Juan de la Maguana, Monsenor Nouel (Bonao), La Vega, Sanchez Ramirez (Cotui), Maria Trinidad Sanchez (Nagua), Duarte (San Francisco de Macoris), Samana, Hermanas Mirabal (Salcedo), Santiago, Santiago Rodriguez and Dajabon.
