The leading mountain bike event of the year, the Eighth International Cycling Champions Mountain Bike Classic 2015 (VIII Clasico de Campeones Bicicentro) is being held in Puerto Plata on 3-4 October 2015. The event, with prizes worth more than RD$1 million, has the backing of UCI. It is a class 1 UCI event that means that winners accumulate points for the 2015 UCI Mountain Bike global ranking.
In the past, the competition used to be held along Constanza’s mountain trails. It is the first time the event is being held in Puerto Plata.
It is being organized by the Bicicentro bicycle store and Petroholding Sports.
Competitors from 12 countries have registered – Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Curacao, Ecuador, Guadeloupe, Spain, St. Martin, Trinidad & Tobago and the United States.
