The changes of address in Pedernales are so frequent that some houses in the town are registered as having 100 residents, reports the Central Electoral Board (JCE).
Pre-candidate for mayor of Pedernales, Francisco Medrano supported the complaint made by Central Electoral Board (JCE) president Roberto Rosario who said he was concerned about the large number of people changing their address to Pedernales in time for the May 2016 elections.
Medrano, a PRSC pre-candidate, is asking the JCE to cancel all address changes made since 2010 and that anyone living elsewhere should not be deciding on who would be appointed in Pedernales itself.
He blamed legislators and mayors and former legislators and mayors for the address change scheme. The JCE has also identified an unusually high number of address changes for San Juan de la Maguana, Dajabon, Elias Pina and other provinces.
