The Central Electoral Board (JCE) will be testing the new electronic voting system on 14 October 2015 during the vote for the new board of the public school teachers’ association (ADP). A total of 88,264 teachers are expected to vote at 324 voting stations nationwide. The same devices that will be used in the 15 May 2016 national election will be used in this vote, which is tied into the JCE system.
As reported in Diario Libre, the process consists of the secretary of the voting station confirming that the voter is on the list, before the president of the table requests the voter’s ID (cedula) and enters the number in the device and verifies it. The voter then moves to a second device with the electoral ballot and votes. The machine automatically prints a ballot that confirms the choice, which the voter must then fold and place inside the ballot box.
