Accompanying President Danilo Medina to the UN meetings in New York City, First Lady Candida Montilla had her own appointment for talks with Yoka Brandt, deputy executive director at the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). The topic for discussion was the government-sponsored centers for children with special needs, the CAID program implemented by the First Lady since day one.
The CAID mainly serves children with autism, cerebral palsy and Down syndrome.
Montilla also took part in a panel discussion organized by the UNICEF on Building a Safer World for Children.
