President Medina in NY: the PLD revolution

During his visit to New York City to attend the United Nations Summit for the Adoption of the Post-2015 Development Agenda, President Danilo Medina spoke about what he described as “the silent revolution” carried out by PLD administrations that he says has enabled 788,000 people in the Dominican Republic to come out of poverty. He was addressing a mainly Dominican crowd at the Hermanas Mirabal public school in Manhattan. He said that while there were 77,000 motorcycles on the roads in 1996, today there are more than 3.4 million. He said the Gross Domestic Product has grown from US$17.7 billion in 1996 to US$68 billion in 2014.
