Three new X-ray machines are being installed for screening passenger carry-on luggage in Migration and general luggage in the Customs area at the Las Americas Airport. The machines should be in operation by tomorrow, Wednesday, 30 September 2015. The systems are of the Dual brand, reportedly with better capacity to detect banned items in luggage. Specialized Airport Security and Civil Aviation Corps (CESAC) agents will operate the equipment.
The lack of X-ray machines has been causing major delays at the airport.
