The Public Electricity Corporation (CDEEE) has announced that 90% of the debt owed to private generators has been negotiated, representing a total of US$778 million. The CDEEE says this will mean around US$151 million in savings over the next five years.
CDEEE executive vice president Ruben Jimenez Bichara said that the agreement would relieve the short-term pressure on the electricity sector and would provide the generators with more cash and certainty of payment in the future.
