OISOE invites more corruption complaints

The director of the Office of Supervising Engineers of State Works, Francisco Pagan, is calling on citizens to go to his office and make any complaints they have about irregularities they have experienced so that he can personally investigate them.

He said that since he took office there has been a team of well-qualified and honorable staff who guaranteed transparency and the proper undertaking of their duties.

Speaking at a breakfast meeting organized by the Santiago Strategic Development Board yesterday, Tuesday 29 September 2015, he said that nothing would be covered up and that since taking over as director he has made changes in the finance and administration of the office, as well as the school development program, technical management and also introduced new personnel.

Commenting on the suicide of architect David Rodriguez, the victim of alleged extortion by two OISOE employees, the Dominican Republic Architects’ Society (SARD) said that the incident should be investigated thoroughly and that the case required deep reflection.

Meanwhile, Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor Laura Guerrero said that Rodriguez had opened a line of credit for a business linked to the two engineers mentioned in his suicide note. She added that Attorney General Francisco Dominguez Brito had made a formal request for arrest warrants for the engineers, Alejandro Isidro de los Santos and Joel Soriano, and called for the maximum penalty to be applied.
