Monsignor Victor Masalles is once again organizing a series of charity swimathons, Brazadas por valores, in Santiago and Santo Domingo. This very successful event brings together swimmers from all around the country for a good cause.
The swims will take place from 16-17 October 2015 at the 50-meter Olympic Pool of the Pontificia Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) in Santiago and from 30-31 October 2015 at the 25-meter pool of the Body Shop Athletic Club Naco in Santo Domingo.
For the event, swimmers are asked to swim for an hour in a non-stop 24-hour swimathon (from 6pm to 6pm) with group relays to sponsor campaigns and educational programs to support moral values in Dominican society, such as honesty, perseverance, respect, solidarity and justice. Sponsors contribute funds for each meter swum.
Tickets are RD$200 in Santiago and RD$500 in Santo Domingo, available from swim clubs and at the Body Shop. They are for sale also online at http://www.laboleteria.do
The event is sponsored by Televida, the Roman Catholic Church television channel, the PUCMM Catholic University and Body Shop Athletic Club.
