One hundred new air-conditioned Mercedes Benz buses with capacity for 90 passengers would have entered into service in Santo Domingo and Santiago today, Thursday 1 October 2015. Administrative Minister of the Presidency Jose Ramon Peralta said that the new buses had been purchased at a cost of RD$651 million with partial financing from the governmental Banco de Reservas. He said that a further 98 would be delivered soon to join the fleet of 360 OMSA buses already in service.
OMSA director Manuel Rivas said that the buses would provide around 20 million passenger journeys between now and December.
