Big increases in Presidency budgets for 2016

The Presidency of the Republic has allotted itself RD$51.4 billion in the 2016 National Budget bill submitted to Congress. This is up from the RD$46.1 billion allotted to the Presidency in 2015.

The offices of the Presidency that are receiving the greater increases in budget allotments are the corruption scandal-ridden Supervisory Office for Public Works of the Presidency (OISOE) that in 2015 had an allotment of RD$5.6 billion and will now receive RD$9.9 billion, as reported in Hoy.

National elections are scheduled for 15 May 2016. President Danilo Medina lobbied to change the 2010 Constitution and is now the presidential candidate for the ruling PLD party.
