Officials invited to explain 2016 Budget

The joint Senate and Chamber of Deputies commission will hold a meeting with government officials this week to review the 2016 National Budget. Joint commission member and PLD Senator Dionis Sanchez told reporters from El Nacional that representatives from other sectors would also be invited to give their opinion on this legislation at a later date.

He dismissed the possibility that the 2016 Budget, for a total RD$663.58 billion, would be open to public hearings, as some have suggested.

He said that the legislators have been informed of the amounts in government projects allocated to each province, and most have expressed their satisfaction.

The 2016 Budget includes issuing RD$114 billion worth of bonds. The budget deficit for next year is projected at 2.3% of GDP and was based on an exchange rate of RD$47.21/US$1.
