The Ministry of Public Works was assigned RD$36.16 billion in the 2016 budget. This includes RD$8.42 billion for transport infrastructure works, including the second line of the Metro, reports Hoy.
As part of the 2016 National Budget, the Ministry was assigned RD$60 million for the new Armada Naval Base installations, RD$60 million for works at the Santo Domingo Technological Institute (Intec University) and RD$100 million for a two-story building for the Cardiology Institute.
Other major allocations include RD$100 million for the construction of the Santo Domingo West Industrial Park (Disdo) in Hato Nuevo, Manoguayabo, RD$100 million for the Palace of Justice in Santo Domingo East, RD$80 million for a public hospital in Las Terrenas, RD$200 million for 600 apartments in Mesopotamia in San Juan de la Maguana, and RD$132 million for a building for the 911 Emergency System.
