For many years now, commuters enduring long traffic bottlenecks have accused Metropolitan Transit Authority (AMET) officers of being a major part of the problem. The officers often stand under traffic lights at busy intersections and control traffic at their discretion. Many drivers are convinced that the traffic lights do a better job.
AMET spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Diego Pesqueira now says that they are working with the company that manages traffic lights to ensure better synchronization in order to remove the agents.
