Uber transport service general manager in Santo Domingo Ansell Borges says the service will soon be available in Santo Domingo.
In an interview with Diario Libre, Ansell Borges highlighted the security of the service for both drivers and users. He explained that in Uber all transactions are prepaid electronically using credit or debit cards, the route is recorded, pre-registration of drivers is required, and users can rate the service received.
Borges is confident that Dominicans will be quick to adapt to the Uber model because it is similar to the call taxis model, but ensures higher quality of service.
He said the model to be available here is the UberX, with options including luxury sedans and SUVs for groups.
Uber is already operating in the Colombian cities of Barranquilla, Cali, Medellin and Bogota, in the Brazilian cities of Brasilia, Belo Horizonte, Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, in San Jose in Costa Rica, Lima in Peru and Santiago in Chile in Latin America.
