The Colombian Police have arrested four members of the same family at Cucuta Airport on the Venezuelan border. They had swallowed 91 capsules of heroin and cocaine before boarding a flight for the Dominican Republic.
According to the police they were a 39-year old woman, her two children, one age 21 and a 16-year old girl, along with their 67-year old stepfather.
They were taken to hospital in Cucuta and x-rays confirmed the presence of the drugs in their systems.
The police established that the family had been contacted by a network that is dedicated to sending drug mules from several airports in the country. So far 138 people, including 35 foreigners have been caught at Colombian airports having ingested capsules of drugs.
