Following its victory on Wednesday, 21 October 2015, Licey stands alone in first place. Only two games were scheduled yesterday evening in the Dominican Winter League: the Tigres del Licey visited Santiago and the Toros del Este went to Santo Domingo to play the Leones del Escogido.
In Santiago, Mel Rojas Jr. hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the tenth inning to score the winning run as Licey defeated the Aguilas 5-4. The Aguilas lost a 3-2 advantage in the eighth inning when Rymer Liriano hit a two-run homerun for Licey. Just minutes later, the Aguilas retaliated with a solo homerun by Zach Borenstein.
In Santo Domingo’s venerable Estadio Quisqueya, the Leones del Escogido ended their losing streak and defeated the Toros del Este by score of 8-1. Pitcher Bruce Billings (1-0) pitched six good innings giving up seven hits and one run for the Leones and end the four-game skid.
In previous baseball action on Tuesday evening, 20 October 2015 Carlos Triunfel batted in four runs and the Gigantes del Cibao headed by Phil Humber tied up the bats of the Tigres del Licey, giving them a 13-1 thrashing. The Gigantes have now posted three straight victories at the starting week of the winter baseball championship.
In Santiago, Jake Buchanan pitched five innings and gave up two hits and led the Toros del Este to any easy 5-1 victory over the Aguilas Cibaenas. In San Pedro, Tyler White hit a two run home run for the Estrellas Orientales that hit the Leones del Escogido with their fourth straight loss, 3-0.

The only game scheduled for this evening, Thursday 22 October 2015, finds the Gigantes Del Cibao visiting the Estrellas Orientales in the Tetelo Vargas Stadium in San Pedro. The game will start at 7:30 pm.
FRIDAY EVENING’S GAMES
Tomorrow, Friday 23 October 2015 the Aguilas Cibaenas travel to Santo Domingo to meet the Tigres del Licey. The Estrellas Orientales travel to San Francisco de Macoris to play the Gigantes del Cibao in the Julian Javier Stadium. Finally, the Leones del Escogido will travel to La Romana and play the Toros del Este. All games start at 7:30 pm.
