In the fourth article in his 5 part series on Santo Domingo’s traffic dilemma, the founding director of the Metropolitan Transport Authority (AMET) Hamlet Hermann concludes that many stand to gain from the traffic chaos affecting the city. He writes that the winners include roadwork contractors, politicized transporters, fuel vendors, spare part importers, and military and civilian government officials who make up what he calls the sabotage of the free circulation of vehicles on city streets.
The victims, he says, are the citizens who suffer as a result of the lack of solutions to the chaos on the city streets.
