Eight Dominicans, mostly pitchers, are on the rosters of the New York Mets and the Kansas City Royals that meet tomorrow, Tuesday, 27 October 2015 for Major League Baseball’s World Series.
Legendary 42-year old pitcher, Bartolo Colon and fellow Dominican pitchers Jeyrys Familia and Hansel Robles are on the New York Mets roster, along with Dominican outfielder Juan Lagares.
The Kansas City Royals has four Dominican pitchers – Yordano Ventura, Johnny Cueto, Edison Volquez and Kelvin Herrera.
The World Series between the Kansas City Royals and the New York Mets will start at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City.
For the right to make the playoffs for the American League, Kansas City defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday night, 23 October 2015 4-2, in a dramatic game with an outstanding performance by Dominican pitcher Yordano Ventura for Kansas and Jose Bautista for Toronto. Earlier in the National League, the Mets had defeated the Chicago Cubs.
For the Mets, it will be their first World Series since 2000. The Royals lost the Series in seven games to the San Francisco Giants last year.
