Santo Domingo baseball team Tigres del Licey is funding improvements at the Santo Domingo Zoo tigers’ area. The team donated to the cost of the signage and painting of their enclosure.
On 20 October 2015, players Anderson Hernandez and Mel Rojas Jr. visited Zoo director Patricia Toribio and were shown the area where the tigers are kept. The director said that the Zoo was happy to receive the baseball team’s support for its real-life namesakes.
