Remodeled refinery to be inaugurated

President Danilo Medina will inaugurate the newly remodeled Dominican Petroleum Refinery PDV SA this Friday, 30 October 2015. The project cost around US$28 million.

The actual installations have not been enlarged but modern equipment has been installed to increase the volume of crude oil to be refined from 28,000 to up to 34,000 barrels a day.

This means that 40% of the Dominican Republic’s fuel needs can now be processed in the refinery. The country, which still needs to import 60% of its refined crude, uses around 120,000 barrels of petroleum a day converted into a range of fuels with 60% of Liquid Petroleum Gas needed provided by Refidomsa, 100% of gasoline and 60% of diesel.
