SAL XVI: Focus on architecture in the Caribbean

The schools of architecture of the Dominican Republic have organized the Latin American Architecture Workshop (SAL XVI) that is taking place in Santo Domingo from 2-6 November 2015.

The Universidad Nacional Pedro Henriquez (Unphu), Universidad Iberoamericana, Pontificia Universidad Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) and the Universidad Central del Este are sponsoring the event.

60 architects will speak at the workshop, described as “a movement of people who think in Latin America from Latin America and with eyes on Latin America.” SAL is a space for debate, discussion, questioning and reflection, where the practice of architecture loses the competitive dimension and opens to questioning.

The focus this year is on the Caribbean, how it thinks, and how it sees the rest of the world and Latin America.

The events have been taking place since 1985.
