The Aguilas Cibaenas are dragging their bats and appear to be unable to move up from the bottom in the standings for the 2015-2016 Dominican Winter Professional Baseball Championship.
Yesterday evening, Wednesday 28 October 2015, the Leones Del Escogido was the last team to defeat the woeful Aguilas Cibaenas with a score of 4-3 in a game played at the Cibao Stadium in Santiago. Rafael Bautista went 4 for 4 as the Leones won their sixth straight game. For the Aguilas this was a second straight loss and the eighth in the team’s last nine games, firmly establishing it in the last place in the standings.
Meanwhile, at the Quisqueya Stadium, the Estrellas Orientales continued to play excellent baseball as they defeated the Tigres Del Licey 2-1. Felix Pie managed to get a base on balls with the bases loaded to bring in the winning run in the tenth inning, and was promptly ejected from the game for excessive celebration and taunting the Licey dugout. This was the second loss in a row for Licey, and the victory put the green team in first place in the standings.
Finally, in the Francisco Micheli Stadium, the Gigantes Del Cibao rolled over the Toros Del Este by score of 12-4. Matt Joyce connected a homerun and scored three runs while Hancer Alberto drove in four runs.
