European Union praises Dominican growth

The European Union ambassador in the Dominican Republic, Alberto Navarro, says that the Dominican Republic is a leader in Latin America when it comes to economic growth, reports El Caribe. He singled out the improvements made in the public tenders process, adding that the Dominican Republic is consolidating its democracy. He said that the countries of reference had always been Mexico, Brazil and Chile, but now the Dominican Republic can also be included in the list. He said the European Union is providing support for building national capacity for medium and long-term planning, together with budget planning and imposing increased controls on public spending, especially in areas focused on citizen services.

The diplomat made his comments yesterday, Wednesday 28 October 2015 in the presence of President Danilo Medina during the inauguration of the XI Annual Conference of the Inter-American Procurement Network attended by representatives from 33 countries.
