Energy plan would save RD$30 million

The National Energy Commission (CNE) on 3 November 2015 presented a strategic study called “Road Map to Energy Efficiency in Dominican Republic” carried out by the International Cooperation Agency (JICA) of Japan. Juan Rodriguez Nina, executive director of CNE says if carried out the country would have RD$30 million a year in electricity consumption, with significant reductions in fuel imports.

The proposal supports the passing of the Bill of the Electrical Efficiency to serve as legal framework for implementing of energy efficiency programs, the raising awareness of the use of energy and channeling an investment plan for the public sector, while encouraging the use of renewable energy sources.
