Minister of the Presidency Gustavo Montalvo has announced that the first stage of the Juan Bosch City will be inaugurated next year with its first 15,000 homes delivered to the beneficiaries of the low cost housing project.
Montalvo said the original RD$30 billion budget was increased by RD$20 billion to add more schools.
Fifty buildings, including several schools and health centers are still under construction. The planned community already has electricity installed and in December the water system will be ready.
The plans call for the construction of another 10,000 homes that will bring the total amount of dwellings to 25,000.
The price of the homes has been set at 20% of their market value, which means that the price range will be from RD$950,000 to RD$2,400,000. The most expensive homes have three bedrooms.
