Good news: rains fill Jiguey-Valdesia reservoir

The director general of the Santo Domingo water authority (CAASD) Alejandro Montas says that all the rains that have fallen in the past two weeks have increased the water levels at the Jiguey and Valdesia dams by more than 651 million gallons. He said that the rains have been good for farming and water supplies, with water levels rising at a rate of 11 cubic meters per second.

He added that the rains are also replenishing the Haina River basin, which will guarantee good water levels for the aqueducts of Isa-Mana, Duey and Haina-Manoguayabo.
