Entrepreneurship Bill passes in Chamber of Deputies

The Chamber of Deputies has approved a watered-down version of the first Entrepreneurship Bill. The bill was modified after objections received from the tax agency (DGII). The amended version now passes to the Senate. National Association of Young Entrepreneurs (ANJE) president Biviana Riveiro described the approved bill as “a first step” in the right direction. The bill seeks to encourage the creation of new businesses and jobs.

Deputy David Collado, who submitted the bill, said that 35% of new businesses close during their first year and 60% by the second year so the bill should help with training to prevent this from happening. He said he was motivated because 29% of young people are unemployed, even university graduates, and they need more and better opportunities.
