Air Europa is suing the collapsed Banco Peravia for alleged fraud worth RD$63 million.
As reported in El Caribe, Air Europa asked for the transfer of RD$20 million of the funds deposited in the company account in the bank in February 2014 to another company account in Citibank in New York, but the transfer never went through. Lawyers representing the airline, Jose Cristobal Cepeda and Osterman Antonio Subervi have submitted a legal complaint accusing the Banco Peravia executives of removing RD$63,043,598 from the Air Europa account.
The lawyers say that the airline had requested the transfer that never happened, and then the bank allegedly proceeded to remove the full total of the deposited funds.
